There are a couple of important settings for your Craigslist account here. First, choose the city in which your properties are located. This will be the default city you will see while listing, but you will have access to change the city within each listing.

• We have numerous templates to choose from and by default we randomize the template used per listing. If you need to use one single template, you can set a layout as your default, but we do not recommend it.
• To track how many times your ad is viewed, choose to display the counter.
• Change the default number of photos you want displayed.
• Display the Contact button to give your potential customers an additional way to contact you. If you choose No for this setting, your email address will appear anonymous in the craigslist posting.
• Also, link to website on banner so your potential customers can view the rest of your inventory. You can change the website this is linked to under the Settings > Account section.
• If you want the Inventory Price to carry over to your Craigslist listings, set this to Yes. If you have different pricing in mind, select No.

On your Craigslist listing we provide you with an upper and lower contact information box that shows up on every ad. You can have whatever information you would like in these fields that would automatically populate on each listing. Keep in mind if someone wants to flag your listings, they could simply copy one of the sentences you’ve written in these boxes, therefore, we suggest not using canned information in these boxes but just use short and simple information. So if flagging becomes an issue, make an adjustment to these boxes first. These tags will automatically populate your information in the listing based on who is logged in, therefore, you do not need to type out your name, dealership name, phone number, etc.

To add a tag, click inside the box where you want to add the tag, then click the Add button. Once you have everything adjusted, click the SAVE button to save your settings.

Creating a Craigslist Account

The first thing you will need to do when getting started with Craigslist is create an account. All you need for an account is a valid e-mail address and telephone number. Go to the Craigslist site in your city and click “My account” at the top left. This will take you to a login screen.

Below the login box there will be a link for account sign up that says “Don’t have an account? Click here to sign up.” Click the link and enter the necessary information.

Craigslist will send you an email containing a link for you to click to verify your email address. Once your email address has been verified your account set up process is almost complete. In order to post to the dealer section, Craigslist wants to verify you are a real person, so next you will need to verify your account by phone. Craigslist will either text your phone or call with an automated message. You will then type in the verification code in Craigslist and your account will be verified. You can only verify one account per telephone number.

You are now ready to begin posting to Craigslist.
